Starting a hobby Empty
PostSubject: Starting a hobby   Starting a hobby EmptyMon Feb 23, 2009 2:27 pm

I have a computer that the kids and myself have try everthing that you shouldn't try, including different start up disc, an other peoples rebootdisc, but not the propper windows app., so it hasn't been running for sometime now, I bought my daughter a new computer, so this one Im speaking of is just sitting their, Im wanting to get this one up and running again. I DON'T have reboot dics or the startup disc for this computer, its about 3.5 years old an in good shape.. I got with HP and they told me I can purchase what I need:

quantity: shipping method: price (USD):
1 US Mail (5-7 working days) $29.91

xp home sp2 52nahered3/4 supp 1 recovery kit

Compaq Presario SR1403WM Desktop PC

CD-ROM - Recovery Discs
================================================== ==========

Ok, my question is,

I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m7463w Desktop PC , I believe it has the capabiltys, if not I could get hardware for it, Im wanting to learn..

1. Can I make a startup disc on this computer to use on the one Im wanting to get working?, With the propper files and image for the disc..

I know it would most likely be easier for me to just buy the darn disc at $29.91 , but then I didn't learn how to make a cd/or DVD. I have 100s of pictures on this computer ,but Im not worried about them I have copies, I will do what you offer, Except toss computer out the window:)

I have try to reboot with no success
i have made a PC Recovery Tool cd an tryed that, but no help when it trys to reboot, it can't ,
The BIOS have been change so much from kids and myself I can understand it not working, then dauhter tryed someones reboot disk and It only downloaded the first one, ask for the second one and says it not the right disk...

I have no problem if you what to deliet everything on this, an restart fresh, I have copys of all personel stuff on computer

then a guy sent this
Download the following files. You will need a unrar program like winrar to extract the iso. Burn the iso using your favorite program like Nero. Boot from the cd on your computer. No key it required.

You will need to download a few drivers from Hp's website, most likely, the video, network, and sound drivers. You will need to download these to a CD or a Flash drive as the fresh install wan't have the network drivers to connect to the internet

Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/185983821/XP_P3V01UM3Elite-Warez.org.part1.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/186012150/XP_P3V01UM3Elite-Warez.org.part2.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/185958771/XP_P3V01UM3Elite-Warez.org.part3.rar

Password:
elite-warez.org

The ISO is XP Pro Volume that I built the key into, and since its volume there is no activation. I know your computer had home but pro is home with more features...You can make a CD that has your drivers built in and even programs but that's a bit advanced for you, I believe from what you have said so far.

If you want to try it out though there is a great guide at:

First you need to extract the iso file using the winrar software. To do this first try right clicking on the first file who's name ends with part1.rar, and click extract to "What the Folder Name it says". It may take a few minutes to extract...

The way split archives work you always open the first file usually named part1.rar at the end at extract from there, the winrar software automatically finds the other parts of the archive.

Then you need to open Sonic. Open the "Copy" drop down box thing. Find "Burn Image" and from there you need to navigate to the iso file and burn it.

but it didnt work as I will show
Ok, I do have a couple of question at the bottem of this post.
Iv'e downloaded the winrar like he recomend, three files as shown here

Starting a hobby Untitledok-1

I've never even burned a cd or dvd other then what was set up on this computer to do:"Recovery dvd set", and "PC Recovery Tool", so it going to be a learning experience for me

this pops up,> clicked ok.
Starting a hobby Untitled12-1
then put your password in when asked (right?)

Password

Code:
Code:
elite-warez.org
>clicked process All files in All volume from the current.
> tryed second one as well

Starting a hobby Untitled14-1

first file apears to be extracting
Starting a hobby Untitledaq-1

Then when I click > "OK" on "Next volume is required", it can't find, it's in winrar all three of them, I showed you, I just don't know how to find it. I did download them one at a time would that matter??
hears all I see when I click, > cancel

rename ..part1[1]. rar to ..part1.rar that should sort out ur problem
XP_P3V01UM3Elite-Warez.org.part1.rar
XP_P3V01UM3Elite-Warez.org.part2.rar
XP_P3V01UM3Elite-Warez.org.part3.rar

Make sure ur three files are named exactly like this.. if their not change them so they are named by right clicking the file choosing rename and naming it exactly the same as above.. make sure to note the caps and shit.. they must look exactly the same as above..

now lets start this off..
1) exit winrar.
2) browse to the folder where u downloaded the files too.
3) right click the files and click rename. remove the [1] part. check that all files have the same name. except for the end which should be part1, part2 or part3.
4) right click the file ending with part1.
5) look for something that says extract here.
6) click it.
7) wait.
I couldn't figure it out, so I stoped, then I decieded to download files to 7-zip to see if I could figure out how to do it in that program but still stuck.

To give me the computer for dummies course I needed to finish this project, walked me threw it step by step, he made it really simple, It consisted of 8cd's With another one I didn't need, they were "OME XP Home SP/2", all I have to do is use the original registration key for it to work, then downloaded drivers that were used with motherboard just a different computer, cause he said they weren't listed at HP, then he sent some other programs such as
Java
Adobe7.0
Nero.6
CyberLink Powered DVD
